In addition, the regional estimates are based on data collected during different rounds of the Disrupting Harm study and therefore reflect different time periods (2021–2022 and 2024–2025). They are also derived from a limited number of countries within each region rather than all countries in those regions. Consequently, the findings should be interpreted as indicative of the participating countries rather than estimates for the regions as a whole. Despite these limitations, the findings demonstrate that technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and abuse affects substantial numbers of children across diverse contexts. The presence of this abuse across all four regions underscores that it is a global child protection issue requiring coordinated prevention, reporting and response efforts across countries and sectors.
