Three images, connected to the 8 July and 19 July 2026 demolitions, in fact displayed a Gemini watermark and also tested positive for Google’s SynthID. SynthID is essentially an invisible watermark embedded by AI image tools, from providers including Google and OpenAI, to indicate that an image was altered or generated by AI. Four additional images from three separate demolition days were also tested for AI use because they stood out as too tall compared to what was observed in satellite imagery, or the surroundings appeared potentially off in some way.
