You have the right to claim damages from the police for unlawful detention, and to petition the Supreme Court to challenge the lawfulness of detention (Constitution, Art. 378; Penal Code, Art. 330; Code of Criminal Procedure, Arts. 80 and 491). You have a right to go before a court if detained over 24 hours (Constitution, Art. 376; Code of Criminal Procedure, Arts. 81 and 167).
