Investigative Findings: “It’s Okay if Only the Land Remains” Statements like “It’s okay if only the land remains for Northern Shan people,” “Lashio! The sacrifice is massive. We will take back both the capital and interest. It’s not just talk. Just you wait. You must know us,” and “Bomb all of it. It’s okay if only the land remains” frequently appear on pro-military council Telegram channels. DVB Fact Check closely monitored five specific Telegram channels—Hmine Wai, Kyaw Swar, Ko Thet, Han Nyein Oo, and Naypyidaw—from January to June 2024. Over this six-month period, 234 instances of incitement to violence were identified across these channels. -7-
