In contrast, 14 per cent of cases of technology-facilitated sexual abuse happened in an online game. The five social media platforms where most cases of technology-facilitated sexual abuse happened were: Facebook (50 per cent), WhatsApp (29 per cent), Instagram (24 per cent), Snapchat (13 per cent) and TikTok (12 per cent).1 1 This adds up to more than 100 per cent because a child can select multiple options when responding; in other words, the same case can occur across multiple platforms.
