Commentary: Across the 21 countries in the study, 59 per cent of incidents of technologyfacilitated child sexual abuse occurred on social media, while 14 per cent occurred in gaming
environments and 18 per cent in person.
Social media platforms were the most common space where technology-facilitated sexual abuse
occurred, in all countries included in this study. This ranges from 36 per cent of incidents in
Ethiopia to 83.3 per cent of incidents in Montenegro. Gaming environments feature in the data
but less frequently, with a range of 2.5 per cent in Serbia to 51 per cent in Thailand (noting that
