and public movements persist, they have been weakened by the military's crackdown and repression,
leading to a decrease in the intensity of public movements.
When examining the reasons for protests
and the calls for action, certain recurring
themes have emerged annually. These
include the anniversary of the coup, calls
for a federal system, Myanmar's New Year
and traditional holidays, Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi's birthday, 7 July, Martyrs' Day,
National Day, Revolutionary Lighting
Festival, gender equality, and Human
Rights Day. Additionally, protests have
been triggered by specific events, such as
calls for rejecting pressure from China to
halt the 1027 Operation, opposition to the
unjust conscription law, demands for
international pressure regarding airstrikes
against innocent civilians, and objections
to the election and the census. Notably, in
June 2024, following the the attack on the
vehicle of the Win Neinmitayon Monastery
Sayadaw from Bago, Buddhist monks in
24 townships organized boycotts of the
military regime, an exceptional form of
resistance. Furthermore, the public also expressed support for Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun,
Myanmar's Ambassador to the UN, demand the continuation of Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun as
Myanmar’s UN representative, which helped bring the aspirations of the people to the international
community's attention.
