These demonstrations reflected the growing participation of ordinary citizens who are peacefully
expressing their political views and the challenges they face.
The majority of the protests led by local community members living in conflict areas were focused on
various issues related to ethnic revolutionary groups, the National Unity Government (NUG), and the
People’s Defense Forces (PDF). The key demands raised in these protests included the following:
• Calls for the re-establishment of the
People’s Administration Board were
observed in several regions, including
Gangaw Township and Tilin Township in
Magway, and Mawlaik, Salingyi, and
Shwebo Townships in Sagaing.
• Protests regarding tax collection and
natural resource management were
seen
in
Sagaing
Region,
with
demonstrations in Kani Township,
Wuntho Township, Bahmo Township,
Indaw Township, and Wetlet Township.
These were also observed in northern
Shan State, particularly in Mongmit
Township.
• Protests related to governance and
rule of law were raised in Sagaing
Region, with towns like Pale Township,
Salingyi Township, Taze Township,
Tigyaint Township, and Kalay Township
witnessing such calls for change.
Protests over civilian-military relations and territorial control occurred in Sagaing Region,
particularly in Pale Township, Yinmabin Township, Homalin Township, Shwebo Township, and
in towns like Gangaw in Magway and Matupi and Kanpetlet Townships in Chin State.

In addition. local civilians also expressed their dissatisfaction against the military regime on specific
issues related to governance and legal matters:
• A protest regarding the lack of rule of law was particularly notable in Putao town, where
thousand of local civilians participated in the demonstrations calling for justice for a girl who was
raped and killed by a man.
• Protests related to the implementation of the conscription law occurred in areas such as
Pwintpyu Township in Magway and Shan State (Northern) in Tanyang Township, where people
voiced their opposition to the forced recruitment of civilians into the military.
Additionally, there were protests on environmental preservation and anti-narcotics efforts in several
regions, reflecting the people’s concerns for both their local environment and the broader impact of drug
trafficking:
• Environmental protection and anti-drug protests took place in Kachin State, particularly in
Myitkyina Township and Laiza, as well as in Hpapun Township of Kayin State, and Kyaukme
Township of Shan State (North).
