Fig-37 : Political Dialogue
3.3 Strategies for Ending Political Conflicts
The survey findings show that a majority of respondents view military means as the
most effective way to end the conflict in Myanmar. However, when it comes to
preferred strategies for action, the picture becomes more nuanced. The Blue Shirt
team asked respondents whether they believe the NUG, PDF, and EAOs should continue
fighting until victory or seek a political solution as soon as possible. Nearly five out of
ten respondents prefer a political solution to end the conflict as soon as possible, while
about 32 percent support continuing the fight until victory is achieved. While there is
about a 10 percent preference gap between military and political solutions overall,
opinions in Magway and Sagaing are evenly divided. However, among respondents
from the states, the gap is much more significant—a 30 percent difference—with 52
percent preferring a political solution and only 22 percent favoring military means.
