site in Aye Mya Tharyar Ward. They informed the ward administrator, who then
contacted Police Station No. 1. A social welfare funeral association transported
the unidentified body to the public hospital.22 After hearing the news, the victim’s
mother went to the morgue and identified the body as her son.
The family estimated that he died around 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. During
examination of the body, the victim was found to have two stab wounds in the
abdomen, cuts on the chest area, and injuries on the wrists that suggested he had
been tied up before death. The family believed the killing was intentional and
reported the case to the Kachin State authorities and requested an investigation.
