Right of defence You have the right of defence (Constitution, Arts. 19 and 375; Union Judiciary Law, Art. 3). You have the right to know what charges are against you (Code of Criminal Procedure, Art. 210; ICCPR, Art. 9(2)). You have the right to be heard equally with the complainant. You have the right to call your own witnesses (Maung Ant Bwe & One v. Union of Burma, 1948 BLR (HC) 863. Union of Burma v. Ah Shin & 2 Others, 1955 BLR (HC) 317.) You have the right to cross-examine witnesses (Code of Criminal Procedure, Art. 208(2)). You have the right to be treated with respect by the court (Court Manual, para. 13).
