These online incitements have had real-world consequences, sparking violence
across various states and regions. In addition to the Ywar Shay attack in Mandalay,
the Hmine Wai Telegram channel, known for its pro-military content, incited
violence by calling for an airstrike on Namsang, Shan State, on August 7, 2024.
Within five days of this incitement, the military council did conduct an airstrike,
resulting in one death and one injury, as confirmed by the TNLA (Ta'ang National
Liberation Army). This incident was also reported by news agencies, including
DVB, with further details from local residents and the Ta'ang Women's
Organization (TWO).
