Towns and Cities with Peaceful Protests Organized by
Pro-Military Supporters
In August 2024, following the capture of
the North Eastern Command in Lashio,
Shan State (Northern), by the MNDAA and
allied forces, protests were held in Yangon
and Naypyidaw. These protests were in
opposition to the MNDAA's brutal actions,
particularly after reports emerged that the
MNDAA had executed innocent civilians,
including doctors, nurses, and women and
children receiving medical treatment at a
military hospital in Lashio. The protests
saw large-scale participation, with
thousands expressing their condemnation
of the violence committed by the MNDAA.
In August 2024, during the heightened
military tensions in Mandalay and
surrounding areas, nationalist groups and
the military supporters in Mandalay
organized protests at the end of the
month, called for no war in Mandalay.
The following table outlines the key reasons for protests and the demands voiced by supporters of the
Myanmar military and nationalist groups, broken down by month. Please note that the translation of the
slogans may not fully capture their original meaning in Burmese. If you are interested in the original
Burmese version, please refer to this report in Burmese.
