1.4 Myanmar as a Democratic Country
Support for democracy as an ideal political system for Myanmar is significantly high
among respondents across the country, whether they are from states or regions.
Nearly nine out of ten respondents say it is important for Myanmar to become a fully
democratic country, with 55 percent expressing very strong support for democracy. In
Magway-Sagaing, the support for democracy is much stronger than in any other area.
