As a result, arrests and killings have frequently occurred along the conflict routes.
Min Zin Thant’s group has been conducting ground attacks alongside Division 33 at
the Hpakant strategic hill. The military has also been carrying out heavy-weapons
attacks, drone strikes, and air bombings in the Hpakant area 24 hours a day.
On July 10, 2025, at around 12:30 PM, in Maw Hsi Sar village (Lone Khin village
Tract), a man about 30 years old, who was selling pickled food near SKY Hotel, was
shot twice by a militia group and died. He was from Ward (1), Nyein Chan Thar Yar
village in Lone Khin village Tract. The victim’s wife is a street vendor who sells in
front of the Phan Hlaing Mini Market in Maw Hsi Sar village. The couple had been
living as tenants in Nyein Chan Thar Yar village for about three years, according to
a social assistance group.
The Chairman of the military in Naypyidaw, for territorial control operations,
along with the Northern Command (NC) Commander, Major General Aung Zaw
Htay, Kamaing tactical units, and Battalion 120, have been stationed along the
Kamaing–Hpakant road.
They had taken positions in and around villages such as Nanyaar, Kap Maw Zup,
and Saing Hpra, as well as at the entrances and exits of villages, including Pyae Ohn
and Nan Tin. Because of their deployment, incidents have occurred where local
residents’ belongings were taken, homes were entered and searched, and property
was stolen. The area has also experienced armed clashes involving military council
forces, militia groups, and the KIA.
On November 6, 2025, in Kap Maw Zup village, while
going to check the farmland during harvest time, at
approximately 2:40 PM, it was reported that a man
was allegedly detained and taken away by military
forces and Min Zin Thant militia members. While
he was travelling alone to his farm, communication
was lost en route, and he has not been seen since.
About a week later, Kamaing tactical officers, church
elders, local community leaders, and elders from
Nanyaar village went to investigate. However, they
were told not to continue the investigation, and the
family believes he may have died.
