Photo - Supplied New provider introduces 4G+ internet service in Yangon A new internet service provider offering a 4G+ service, which can give people wireless internet access at a much higher speed, has been launched in Myanmar, a company official said. Devid Gubiani, chief executive officer of Amara Communications Services (ACS) said its Ananda 4G+ service would use the 2600 megahertz spectrum, providing its users with more stable and faster wireless internet service. “With Ananda 4G+, users can watch videos, news and movies online as they wish,” he said at the launch of the service on Friday. “Online gaming and music can be downloaded without line interruptions for unlimited data,” Gubiani added. The company offers two packages for unlimited internet -- K35,000 (US$26) and K65,000 -- which were introduced at Friday’s launch. The K35,000 package offers users 30 days of unlimited data with a free mifi (a wireless router that acts as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot) and one 4G+ Ananda SIM. Ten devices can be connected simultaneously in the network. The K65,000 package, on the other hand, offers 60 days unlimited data with a 4G+ router and up to 30 devices connected simultaneously in the network. Other packages include 7 days’ unlimited data for K10,000; 7.5GB one-month data for K5400; 15GB one-month data for K10,000 and 60GB 60-days’ data for K38,000. The service will be available in 25 townships in Yangon and will be extended to Mandalay. Later, it plans to expand coverage to Ayeyarwady, Rakhine, Sagaing, Chin, Shan, Kachin and Kayah. There are 500 sites in Yangon and 100 in Mandalay and each site has 1200km of fibre optic cables, according to IGE Group company chair U Nay Aung. Users interested in the Ananda 4G+ services can go to its six brand shops and 3500 partner shops around Yangon. Details are also available at www.ananda.com.mm. ACS was established in 2011, specialising in civil engineering, mobile infrastructure and manufacturing. It is also into radio equipment installation and maintenance. The company is a subsidiary of IGE group, which is active in electricity, energy, infrastructure, investment, tourism, banking, financial services and communications. Aside from internet services provided by telecommunications operators, other internet services are available in Myanmar from licensed internet service providers, such as Myanmar Net and 5BB Broadband.
