Auditors were particularly concerned that the RTI
Duty Bearers would bring legal cases against them.
Several RTI Auditors also experienced continued
negative interactions and explicit threats in the weeks
following their information requests. The sources of
the threats were third parties with an interest in the
information requested.
“I requested information related to the
government’s dealings with businesses and later
received several direct threats of legal action from
persons representing the businesses involved.”
