Joint Operation Command (JOC)
Strategic JOC
Led by the key senior military leadership,
including Deputy Commander-in-Chief,
Vice Senior General Soe Win, Joint Chief of
Staff, General Kyaw Swar Lin, commanders
of the BSOs, Chiefs of Staff from army,
navy, and air force as well as senior officers
from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief
and artillery and support units. This
national-level command has overall
responsibility for planning nationwide
aerial and joint operations, and authorizing
large-scale joint campaigns.
Following the 2021 coup,
the Myanmar military junta
established Joint Operation
(Special) Commands (JOCs)
to coordinate combined
offensives across the army,
air force, navy, and support
units. This structure enables
the systematic planning
and execution of airstrikes
and ground attacks under a
centralized chain of command.
Regional JOC
Composed of relevant commanders
of the BSOs, RMCs, deputy regional
commanders, and senior staff officers
from on-ground combat support units.
Regional Joint Operation Commands
are responsible for carrying out orders
from the Strategic JOC and coordinating
operations on the ground, including
airstrikes in support of ground assaults.
