2/24/25, 3:20 PM Digital Hate: Monthly Update for January 2025 BBC Burmese reported that 41 civilians have died due to the airstrikes of the junta in Yanbyal township of Rakhine state. A promilitary telegram channel named Hmine Wai shared BBC's post with a hate speech that those 41 people were not civilians but they were terrorists. In that post, Rakhine people and AA were mentioned as terrorists. That post used dehumanizing hate speech and criminalizing hate speech. Original Post (See the translation of the attached link below conclusion 15) A Telegram channel named Hminewai re-posted the sinking of a battleship in 2024, an incident resulting in the death of both elders and children. The channel also called for retaliation against the Arakan Army (AA) and the Rakhine people, urging followers to remember past grievances and seek revenge across generations. That post used violence inciting hate speech and dehumanizing hate speech.
