Myanmar’s internet suppression
PROTESTS BEGIN
The next day, people in Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, bang pots and
pans and honk their car horns in a sign of resistance against the coup.
Social media users share videos of these protests, many using the
hashtags #voiceoutfordemocracy or #savemyanmar.
The resistance gains traction over several days, as hospital staff, teachers,
and other government employees refuse to work in an act of civil
disobedience. More than thirty people are arrested.
