2.3 Right Direction, Wrong Direction
Amid the country’s social, political and economic turbulence, the Blue Shirt team
sought to gauge public sentiment on whether people remain hopeful or feel uncertain.
About six out of ten respondents believe that the country is heading in the wrong
direction, due to the 2021 coup, widespread violence, human rights violations, the
absence of rule of law, and ongoing economic hardships. In contrast, about one out of
ten respondents think the country is on the right track. Among those who are
optimistic, only a small proportion (15 percent) attribute this to the leadership of the
Myanmar military.
