Myanmar Witness has been unable to confirm why these roofs appear to have changed in the weeks before the demolitions. It should be noted, however, that the state-provided map outlining the demolition plans and the specific buildings to be destroyed does not align with the geolocated buildings shown in the footage. The state map placed the blue-roofed villa at [16.819900, 98.53849], but Myanmar Witness’s geolocation identifies the demolished building at [16.814565, 98.546576]. Additionally, on 26 July 2026, the state map puts the grey-roofed building at [16.817283, 98.540866] while geolocation confirms the demolished building at [16.818302, 98.538524] (figure 9).
