E-commerce skills development As a new channel to market, the availability of relevant skills in e-commerce is limited. There will be a need to develop familiarity and understanding of ecommerce amongst several groups of people:  Businesses intending to buy and sell using e-commerce;  The tech sector, particularly those businesses that are hosting e-commerce services;  Courier and postal operators;  The financial services sector, since that sector will need to assess e-commerce business proposals;  The legal profession and government officials, since they will be concerned to develop and apply e-commerce associated law. Achievement of the following goals associated with e-commerce skill development will enable e-commerce businesses to develop and operate successfully. These goals are related to particular goals in the Digital Economy Roadmap and the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan associated with the development of digital skills, encouragement of creativity and innovation and encouragement of digital trade. Goal 7.1: Myanmar’s E-commerce and Digital Economy Curriculum are aligned with industry’s needs Adjusting education curricula to new demands from the economy and businesses always take time. Myanmar’s education system, especially tertiary education and vocational training is struggling to adjust to market needs. Companies cannot hire ICT graduates and make them operational immediately, leaving businesses to invest in on the job training schemes, which they may be reluctant to sponsor.
