Analysis: Current Landscape of Hate Speech in Myanmar
Aligning dissent with foreign interference, this narrative has served to delegitimize the work
generally of civil society, activists, and media in the country. Critically, it has placed their work critiquing hate speech as fundamentally foreign to Myanmar and harmful to its interests.268 Support for the
international accountability measures described below are similarly being characterized as antithetical to the interests of Myanmar.269
