The Chiang Mai-based editor said: "Security was the biggest challenging risk for us in 2021 and 2022, but now it is more financial. This, he says, "is our biggest threat and concern" for the future. The year 2023 also saw the emergence of at least three initiatives from independent Myanmar journalists to organise themselves with the aims of promoting professionalism and mutual support, as well as improving collaboration - the Burma Media Consortium, the Independent Press Council Myanmar, and the Independent Myanmar Journalists Association. 4
